Enjoy an evening of literature, art and music at the gallery Espace Kameleon on July 26, 2014 from 6:30 pm to 9 pm. This exciting event features a book launch, bilingual readings by three remarkable authors, an exhibition of fascinating paintings and some beautiful jazz.

Vu will launch in France her novel Palawan Story. Jamaican author and artist Alecia McKenzie will read from her novel Sweetheart, the Caribbean Regional Winner of the 2012 Commonwealth Book Prize. And Parisian writer Sadiad Youssouf will read excerpts from her unpublished works of fiction.

In Palawan Story, Vu traces a sinuous path through the impermanence of identity as a young girl is sent off on a perilous boat trip to escape Vietnam and start a new life in North America. McKenzie’s vivid, concise, and direct style in Sweetheart skillfully grabs the reader's enthusiasm to discover the whereabouts of a famous Jamaican artist. Youssouf's manuscripts draw on her rich childhood experiences in Djibouti to enthrall her readers with indelible scenes of Africa. The gallery will also show a selection of McKenzie’s oil and acrylic paintings. Refreshments will be provided.

These amazing authors will be joined by Vietnamese-French calligrapher Vu Can and painter Nam Tran Nguyen (Médaille d' argent - exposition internationale - Monde de la culture et de l' art. Cannes, 2009) with a guest appearance by American jazz singer Denise King.
